Wheel Throwing Experience
Block Printing
Learn how to carve your own blocks to be used for printing! Participants can choose to carve rubber stamps, linoleum or work with traditional woodblocks. We will learn about how to design a successful image, what tools to use and how to use them, and of course, how to print. Participants will have the option to use Alchemy’s printing press or print by hand, on paper or on textiles.
Approximately 2.5-hour class.

Engage with our incredible landscape in a creative way! Learn painting techniques in watercolor or acrylic. If the weather permits, we can do this class in a plein air format outside in a location of participants choosing. Alternately, class can take place on-campus at Alchemy.
Approximately 2-hour class.
Wheel Throwing Crash Course
Are you interested in learning all of the steps of wheel throwing, from wedging to glazing? Our crash course includes one 3-hour session of wheel throwing where you will learn how to center, throw, and finish a form on the wheel. The second day is 2.5 hrs and you will learn how to trim and discuss finishing options for leather-hard clay. Glazing can be done during open studio hours by participants or Alchemy staff can glaze your work for you for $20. Work can be shipped for $30.
Approximately 5.5-hour class taking place over two sessions.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the time required to teach this class, the base rate for our Wheel Throwing crash course is $250 for 1-2 people. Additional participants are priced the same way as the other classes, $55 per additional person. Maximum class size is 6 students.
Wheel Throwing Experience
You’ve probably heard about the 10,000 hours to mastery rule, and this is definitely true with the pottery wheel, but it is fun to try out regardless of your results! Students will try their hand at centering and pulling a rudimentary vessel. This is a process rather than an outcome-focused class, and if you are interested in trying something physical and ancient, it is a great option! If you are wanting a ceramics class where you take home a finished piece, we would recommend the other clay classes on this list, just FYI.
Approximately 2.5-hour class.
Paint Your Own Pottery
Paint Your Own Pottery
This is not your average paint your own pottery class. Students will have an assortment of hand thrown vessels and mugs to choose from and will be shown techniques in glaze and underglaze. Pottery can be picked up the following week in the studio, or work can be shipped for an additional fee, once fired. Includes one bisque mug per person. Additional mugs can be added for $20 each. Shipping is an additional $30 per address, or pick up is free. Approximately 2-hour class.
Ceramics Handbuilding
Ceramics Handbuilding
Students will be given clay, tools, and techniques to create their vision in clay! Possibilities include using slabs to create plates, bowls, or decorative address plaques, using coils and pinching to create functional pottery or decorative sculpture… and so much more! Glazing by Alchemy staff is $20 and shipping is an additional $30 per person, or pick up is free.
Approximately 2-hour class.
Raku
Raku
Create beautiful pottery using raku, a pottery decoration technique where pottery is fired at a high temperature, and after removing pieces from the kiln, the wares are placed in an open-air container filled with combustible materials. Students will have an assortment of hand thrown vessels and objects to choose from.
Approximately 2-hour class.
Note: raku cannot be run during the burn ban.
Design and Silkscreen Apparel
Design and Silkscreen Apparel
Create a custom t-shirt, tote bag, or poster with your group! We will coach you so that everyone can add a little something, then your group’s original design will be turned into a silkscreen that you can print onto apparel. One high quality cotton tote bag or t-shirt is included for each person, but feel free to bring your own sweatshirt, tee, dress or even dish towel to put your design on as well!
Approximately 2-hour class.
